Cashmere is one of the softest and most luxurious fibers in the world. It is finer, lighter and roughly three times more insulating than regular wool.
Pure cashmere comes from the Cashmere goat’s soft undercoat layer and is separated by hand from the top layer of coarse guard hair, which in turn is used for non-apparel purposes such as fine brushes.
The incredibly soft and insulating properties of cashmere make it ideal for clothing and accessories designed to be worn in cold weather. Here are some of our recommendations.

- How to wash your sweaters:
The safest way is to hand wash your sweaters. Fill a sink or a tub with lukewarm water and add a touch of gentle detergent. Submerge your sweater and gently swirl it in the water for about a minute. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Drain the water and rinse it with cool, clean water. Once rinsed, absolutely avoid wringing it. Instead, gently press your sweater into a ball or on the sides of the tub.
- How to dry your sweaters:
Avoid the dryer. Once you remove the excess water out, lay the sweater flat on a clean towel or on a drying rack. To accelerate the drying, roll the sweater up in a towel for a few minutes and gently press on it. Then replace the towel with a dry one. Do not hang your sweaters up to dry, the weight of the humidity could potentially deform your sweater.
- How to get rid of wrinkles:
Cashmere and wool are more prone to wrinkle after washing. Do not use an iron as it tends to crush the fibers. Instead, use a gentle steamer that will fluff up the yarn and refresh it.
- How to store your sweaters:
Always fold. Never hang. Hanging will distort the shape of the sweater. Use cotton storage bags instead of plastic bins to make sure that moisture doesn’t get trapped and the sweaters can still breathe. Always make sure to wash your sweaters before storing them…moths love body oil and perfume.
